During many hundreds of investigations of haunted public sites, private businesses and private residences over the past ten years, we have amassed an extensive collection of audio, photo and video evidence. Some of the most compelling examples of our audio evidence can be heard below. The Photo and Video links above lead to separate pages showcasing our best photo and video evidence.
Examples of Our Audio Evidence
In our research, we have observed that paranormal energies are electromagnetic in nature and are capable of manipulating the magnetic properties of analog and digital audio recording media (tapes, hard disks, etc.) in such a way that inaudible voices or sounds are permanently imprinted on the media. This type of paranormal event is called Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), and the imprinted voices or sounds are known as EVPs.
Generally, these voices or sounds are not heard during an investigation, but are discovered later while reviewing the recording media. Often, they complement a recorded conversation in the form of solicited responses. At other times, they overlap a recorded conversation in the form of unsolicited comments.
Very rarely, a voice is audibly heard as it is simultaneously captured on the recording media. This extremely rare paranormal event is known as Audible Disembodied Voice (ADV). This phenomenon is theorized to occur when paranormal energies use the energy fields of individuals or other local sources to manifest audible speech. We have included examples of both EVPs and combined ADVs/EVPs below.
In our research over the past ten years, we have tested and utilized various audio recording devices including analog microcassette recorders, analog full-size cassette recorders, analog video recorders, digital video recorders and digital audio recorders. After much experimentation in the field, we have concluded that the clearest audio recordings are obtained using digital MiniDisc recorders, and they are now our audio recording device of choice.
The type of device which was used to capture each of the following audio recordings is noted below to help listeners distinguish between the recording qualities of the various devices. In some examples, we have also isolated and repeated the recorded voice or sound louder at the end of the recording in order to emphasize it.
NOTE! To protect the privacy of our clients, we NEVER provide specific information on our website about private businesses or residences.
