Our Other Ghost Hunting Tools

In addition to the equipment above, we use common tools in our investigations which can be bought locally or online.

Flashlight
Always carry a flashlight during investigations! We carry handy pocket size flashlights which can slip in our pockets or clip on our belts, and we sometimes take larger military issue flashlights on outdoor investigations.

Extra batteries
Spare batteries are a must since batteries will often drain completely during an investigation. Always carry plenty of fresh batteries in a range of sizes.

Note pad and pen
A note pad and pen are essential for recording the time and description of paranormal events which occur during investigations. It's a lot easier to find the information you need in a note pad rather than fast forwarding and rewinding through an audio recording!

Coins as "trigger objects"
In several isolated areas at the investigation site, we place a coin on top of a paper xerox copy of the coin (alternately, a coin can be placed on a blank piece of paper and an outline drawn around the edge of the coin with an ink pen). The "trigger object" coins are checked periodically and are sometimes monitored with video surveillance. If a coin is moved during an investigation, we have obtained indisputable proof that at least one sentient discarnate personality is present. A Sacagawea gold dollar coin has been moved during two separate investigations.

CD player
We sometimes use a small, portable battery powered CD player to play period music during investigations.

CDs of period music
At certain sites such as Civil War battlefields or old Bed & Breakfasts, we play period music (Civil War songs or early 1900's children's songs, etc.) as a method of attracting the attention of sentient discarnate personalities. This technique has worked successfully during past investigations.

Dowsing rods
Skilled users can sometimes use these L-shaped brass rods to find areas of concentrated positive or negative psychic energy.
