- Daughter's Name?
- Submitted by Karen B of Jackson, Mississippi
(Digital scan of 35mm film camera photo print) - Karen wrote, "I thought I would send you a photo that was taken three months after the death of my oldest daughter, Carley, in an auto accident in 2000. The photo was taken on prom night, and it looks like Carley must have decided to pay a visit to her best friend's house while a group of girls were getting ready to go to the prom. I asked an attorney whom I worked with at the time to look at the photo, and he could not explain it even though he is a professional photographer as well. The photos on the roll of film before and after this one did not have anything unusual in them. It looks to me as if she was attempting to write her name. The only light sources in the room were artificial as it was night. It's not a reflection because the misty writing is over the bricks as well."
- MMSGH Evaluation
- We appreciate Karen for sharing this very personal photo with us. We have no explanation for the visual phenomena which appears in the photo. We would like to examine the original film negative if possible to verify that nothing in the room could have caused this effect before we reach a final conclusion.
