Ghost Hunting Weather
We are currently studying the effects of solar x-ray flares, geomagnetic field fluxes and lunar phases on paranormal activity. In our experience, paranormal activity often increases when excess energy from solar x-ray flares permeates the earth's atmosphere and causes the earth's geomagnetic field to become unsettled. We have not been able to make a meaningful connection yet between lunar phases and increased paranormal activity. Some of our best paranormal evidence has been obtained during X Class or Mega Flares and Geomagnetic Storms.
Solar X-Ray Flares
The Solar X-Rays monitor on each of our website pages downloads data periodically from the NOAA Space Environment Center FTP server. The previous 24 hours of 5 minute Long-wavelength X-ray data from each satellite (GOES 8 and GOES 10) is analyzed, and an appropriate level of activity for the past 24 hours is assigned as follows:
  Solar X-ray flux is quiet
(< 1.00e-6 W/m^2)
  Solar X-ray flux is active
(>= 1.00e-6 W/m^2)
  An M Class flare has occurred
(X-ray flux >= 1.00e-5 W/m^2)
  An X Class flare has occurred
(X-ray flux >= 1.00e-4 W/m^2)
  An unprecedented X-ray event has occurred
(X-ray flux >= 1.00e-3 W/m^2)
Geomagnetic Field Fluxes
The Geomagnetic Field status monitor on each of our website pages downloads data periodically from the NOAA Space Environment Center FTP server. The previous 24 hours of 3 hour Planetary Kp Index data is analyzed and an appropriate level of activity for the past 24 hours is assigned as follows:
  The Geomagnetic Field is quiet
(Kp < 4)
  The Geomagnetic Field has been unsettled
(Kp=4)
  A Geomagnetic Storm has occurred
(Kp>4)
Lunar Phases
When the moon is close to the earth during its monthly orbit, it exerts more pull on the earth's electromagnetic field. This gravitational force seems to affect people and paranormal activity. Some paranormal researchers have reported increased activity, especially during full moons and new moons. We have not seen a correlation in our research so far, but we are still studying this claim. The chart below can be used to locate dates for future full moons and new moons.
