Taped Location Interview with April Thompson
Quetzal Internet Cafe
Memphis, Tennessee

Memphis - Mid South Ghost Hunters founder, Michele King and EVP Specialist Rich Ervin were interviewed on October 21, 2005 at Quetzal Internet Cafe in Memphis, Tennessee by April Thompson of WREG News Channel 3 in Memphis. Southern Phantom documented the event in photos and helped conduct the preliminary investigation. The interview aired during the 6 PM newscast. Memphis Mid-South Ghost Hunters were on-site to investigate reports of multiple sightings of an apparition by owner Fred Charron and one of his employees. This apparition has been seen in two different locations in the building and has been nicknamed "James Dean" because of his 50's style attire of white t-shirt and blue pants. Could this apparition possibly be the ghost of Elvis since Sun Studios is located just a few buildings down the street from the Quetzal Internet Cafe? Memphis - Mid South Ghost Hunters paranormal investigation team members Michele King, Southern Phantom, Rich Ervin, Mervin and Shaina Kinney conducted a full investigation of the building on the night of October 22, 2005. Charly Kayle from FM100 in Memphis accompanied us on the investigation. Following is the text of April Thompson's interview.

Quetzal Internet Cafe owner, Fred Charron, describes the appearance of an apparition near the building's elevator while Rich checks the area for EMF emissions.

Mid South Ghost Hunters Track Down Spirits

Memphis — Bumps in the night and things that mysteriously move without being touched. It's not a Hollywood movie. Many people believe there are ghosts among us. One Mid South group has a mission of tracking down those spirits.

A new hot spot in downtown, but Quetzal Cafe is serving up more that coffee and pastries. The owner of this new eatery on Union Avenue, Fred Charron, says something is lurking in his building. He says the thing is a ghost, and it has appeared several times. "I was sitting in the chair and caught something out of the corner of my eye. I turned around and saw a man right there or as much of a man as I could see," says Charron. Fred knew it was time for professional help, so he called the Memphis - Mid South Ghost Hunters. Rich Ervin and Michele King got on the job, with ghost meters in hand, measuring unexplained sources of energy that may actually indicate the presence of ghosts. "Most of the time when we go to people's homes they are either frightened or extremely curious. They want to know exactly what's going on there," says Ervin.

These Ghost Hunters never have a shortage of business. It seems many Mid South homes and businesses have plenty of unexplained sightings and guests. It's made ghost hunting a popular business that even surprises those who have a passion for the work. "The excitement comes afterwards when we start checking our audio and video. Then you really get excited," says Michele King.

One thing the Ghost Hunters never promise is that they can get the spirits to leave. They can ask, but they say that's not really what their work is about. "We try to reassure them, show them evidence whatever is there 99.9 percent of the time it is not of any harmful nature," says Ervin. Fred Charron just wants to know exactly what kind of spirit he is dealing with and what it wants. The Ghost Hunters are there to track it down and offer a little peace of mind. Bolivar's Haunted Magnolia Manor

Bolivar TN Here's a Halloween story we think will send a chill up your spine. A Mid-South mansion owner says her house is haunted, and this Halloween weekend she's inviting you to tag along as a group of ghost hunters check out the place.

"This is where I first hear the footsteps," says Elaine Cox as she opens the door to her master bedroom suite on the first floor of Magnolia Manor in Bolivar. If you asked Elaine Cox years ago if she believed in ghosts, she would've told you to get lost. That was until she heard those footsteps. "It was like somebody totally walking above my head," she says.

It gets creepier too! Elaine says the same thing happened a few nights later. Then she saw a human form appear in her bedroom. "I'm pretty convinced, that there's something," she says.

Elaine's home is also a bed and breakfast, a place where guests get a taste of 19th century design during the day, and sometimes something spooky at night. One of her guests says he saw the woman in a painting come alive. It scared him enough to the point where he locked himself in the bathroom.

Enough is enough, right? Well, Elaine enlisted the help of some experts.

The Memphis Mid-South Ghost Hunters put their gadgets to use at Magnolia Manor. They recorded voices, and even saw a door open on its own. Ghost Hunter Rich Ervin says investigators heard "phantom voices", and saw a door open on its own.

You might think the home would be a scary place for Elaine to sleep night after night. But she's not scared. Not one bit. In fact, she says having the extra company, is nice.
